An Update and a Request

In Notes on May 30, 2010 at 12:01 pm

Tell Me Another is three months old, and I’ve settled into writing one or two new entries a week. Some more numbers: I’ve posted 48 stories so far, about 50 friends and family members have posted or emailed comments, 18 people have subscribed, and WordPress has recorded nearly 2,500 page views.

I haven’t been writing the stories in any particular order, but I have been keeping track of when and where they are set. To date, they cover nine decades (if you count retellings of parents’ and grandparents’ stories), with the largest number set in the 1960s and 1970s, but many shifting between different times. Sixteen are set in the United States, nine in India, eight in England, a couple in Greece, and one in Scotland, while a dozen range across countries or are not set in any one place.

Thanks to everyone who has posted comments. It’s such fun reading and replying to them, almost as much fun as writing the stories in the first place. Through your responses and our subsequent conversations, I’ve heard many fascinating parallel and intersecting stories, and renewed and deepened friendships.

Finally, a request: I’d love to learn which of the stories is your favorite so far.

  1. It’s hard to pick a favorite story, but I’m quite fond of the boarding school ones.

    • Thanks, Shounak. There are many boarding-school stories swirling about hazily in my head–perhaps I’ll try to write one or two more.
